Holy Spirit parish is a close-knit community. We have about 600 registered families, but like most churches (unfortunately), regular attendance is never that high. We are always in need of a few good men & women to help us out before and after each weekend Mass.
Are you a friendly person? One of the tasks of being an user is to meet and greet people as they arrive for Mass. When you do this on a regular basis, you're sure to make new friends and stay connected with the community!
Ushers have a few duties. These duties are easy and quick. Here's a few of the duties we take care of before and after each weekend Mass:
- Turn on the lights in the church before Mass
- Meet and greet fellow parishioners and guests at the door as they arrive
- Assist those who may need assistance--escort to a pew or provide wheelchair assistance
- Ask a family to participate in the Offering of the Gifts
- Coordinate the collection baskets for the weekly Offering
- Distribute the weekly bulletin as people leave church
Being an usher is a rewarding job! If you're interested, we have openings. We especially need help at the 4pm Mass on Saturday evening and at the 11am Mass on Sunday.
